"There are two things that need to be separated: man and society. Before you disgust yourself with society, ask yourself if, as a man, you really did your duty."  Richard Jakopič

The Multipurpose Roma Centre Novo mesto (VNRC Novo mesto)  is a single entry point for Roma, while the Roma activator is a liaison between institutions and content in the areas of local government, social, employment, education, culture, equal opportunities and health.

The Centre will be operational from October 2017 and will carry out activities until the end of September 2021. You can find us on Topliška cesta 2, on the premises of RIC Novo mesto, on the second floor.

The centre is open every weekday from 08:00 to 16:00. We will also carry out individual activities at other times (afternoon, Saturday, holidays), so follow our monthly activity announcements on the notice board and Facebook page of the centre.

The VNRC is carrying out activities aimed at strengthening and improving the socio-economic situation of members of the Roma community in Slovenia, their better social integration and establishing cooperation and trust with the majority population of the local community. The activities aim at reducing the risk of poverty, raising social competencies, empowering, and bringing the labour market closer and actively integrating them into society.

In carrying out the activities, we have set important milestones for our employees, contractors, volunteers, and partners:

  • Proper cooperation with various stakeholders (local community, Roma societies, associations, institutions, ministries...)
  • Real-time monitoring and evaluation of activities,  notably by monitoring the satisfaction of participants and stakeholders with activities
  • Frequent informing of members of the Roma community and the public about activities and events within and outside the Centre
  • Active promotion of the centre through professional (co)activities in the local environment as well as more broadly (round tables, debates, professional events, conferences, formal and informal meetings...)
  • Quality implementation of activities for individuals (presentations, workshops, learning support, games, sports, social and cultural events, organisation of various actions in the environment, consulting, training ...)

The activities are part of the network of partner institutions of VNRC Novo mesto, which is based on an existing network of partner institutions, which we have been nurturing in RIC Novo mesto for many years and providing networking between programs to achieve greater efficiency of individual actions and projects. In addition to partner collaborations, we also encourage interdepartmental cooperation with ministries (e.g. Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Health ...), government and NGOs, associations, forums . . .
