The initial integration of immigrants (ZIP)

Project duration period: 1. 9. 2014 – 30. 6. 2015

Target group: immigrants (third-country nationals)

Summary (project goals and purpose)

The 180-hour programme of the Slovenian language was intended for the immigrants, respectively, third-country nationals, to whom a certificate of eligibility to participate has been issued by the competent administrative unit. The participants in the programme were learning about the Slovenian language, culture, society, literature, etc. After successfully completing the programme (80 per cent attendance and successfully passed the final test) they had the opportunity to apply for the exam of the Slovenian language on the basic level. The entire programme and the exam (in so far as the programme is successfully completed) are free of charge as they are financed by the Ministry of the Interior.

Project results

In the period of contract duration, we completed the programme for three groups of participants. For the first two groups, the programme was being carried out from 14. 10. 2014 to 13. 4. 2015, while for the other two it took place from 13.1. to 19. 6. 2015. In total, the 180-hour programme included 41 participants, and 540 hours of the programme were carried out. 40 participants have successfully passed the internal examination. For most participants, we recorded satisfying attendance (over 90%) and also high motivation to learn because they joined the programme in order to gain the necessary knowledge to pass the exam in the Slovenian language on the basic level, and, consequently, to acquire citizenship. All 40 participants registered to take the exam of the Slovenian language on the basic level, 37 of them passed the exam.

The project manager was Maja Regina. Further information about the project is available at ric@ric-nm.si.
